National Competency Standards are an essential element for the implementation of a unified Technical and Vocational Education & Training System for Sri Lanka and form the basis for the National Vocational Qualifications Framework of Sri Lanka, which provides for the award of nationally recognized qualifications. The National Competency Standards are developed in consultation with industry and are designed using a nationally agreed specific format to maintain uniformity and consistency of standards amongst occupations.

The course content provides a broad overview of Occupational Safety & Health. Students will gain knowledge in a broad range of legal & operational areas in managing Safety & Health in organizations. The course will deal with managing risk in organizations, factories and different industries whereby safety measures in high-risk machinery, pressure vessels, boilers, steam receivers etc., will be extensively dealt with.
