Course Objective

Become more familiar with building services (MEP) in their science, technology, terminology, in order to quantify engineering drawings correctly.
Target Groups : Graduate Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, MEP Draughtsmen and Technical Officer in the field of building construction.

Prerequisite: Must have knowledge in QS basics

* Importance of Quantity Surveyors and their roles in Gulf countries
* Introduction of Project Development in Gulf countries
* Introduction to Construction Contracts, Contract Documents and practicing FIDIC & JCT in the building construction project
* Types of design and drawings (Concept Design, Schematic Design & Detail Design, etc)
* Estimate preparation based on concept drawing, schematic drawings & detail drawings
* Principles of Engineering Measurements & Introduction of Stan dard Method of Measurements (SLS 573, SMM7, CESMM 3, NRM 2, etc.)
* Pre Qualification Submission & Compilation of Tender Documents
* Importance of Drawings & Specification for MEP services and their measurement practice based on professional measurement approach
* MEP Quantity Take Off and Preparing BOQs from all types of drawings, specification and past experience
* Rate Analysis based on Star rate and Quotations for MEP services
* Interim Valuations, Variations, Value Engineering, Final Accounts, Provisional sum, Prime cost and Subcontractors’ Invoices and Claims – Advanced MS Excel Practice for QS.
